Our client, a leading financial services firm, is seeking a Data and AI Risk Governance Lead to join their Investments & Capital Markets (I&CM) division. This strategic role is based in New York, NY, and plays a vital part in supporting enterprise-wide risk programs related to data and AI technologies.
Position Overview
As the Data and AI Risk Governance Lead, you will drive the development of data governance frameworks and promote the responsible, ethical use of AI technologies across the organization. You’ll play a key role in aligning divisional priorities with corporate risk management objectives.
Key Responsibilities
• Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with legal, technical, and business teams to communicate risk findings and influence decision-making processes.
• Risk Assessment & Remediation
Conduct comprehensive risk assessments on data management and AI initiatives, and recommend effective mitigation strategies.
• Policy Development
Develop and refine governance policies for AI technologies to ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal standards.
• Ethical AI Advocacy
Promote ethical practices in AI usage, emphasizing transparency, fairness, and accountability.
• Security Support
Offer subject matter expertise to information security teams regarding data management and AI-related security concerns.
• Compliance Oversight
Ensure adherence to established data and AI policies, and provide corrective guidance as needed.
• Training & Awareness
Design and implement training initiatives to increase organizational awareness of data and AI risks and best practices.
• Metrics & Reporting
Collaborate in defining and reporting on enterprise-level KPIs and KRIs to monitor risks related to data and AI models.
Qualifications
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, with a strong background in operational risk management, particularly in technology, information, or model risk domains.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2–5 years of experience in a management or leadership role.
• Deep understanding of data management best practices and AI technologies, including machine learning and natural language processing.
• Familiarity with key regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and industry standards (e.g., IEEE, NIST, ISO/IEC).
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
