They are seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to join their Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Team and play a key role in developing cost-effective, cutting-edge automation solutions to enhance manufacturing operations.
Job Summary
The Senior Automation Engineer will report to the Director of Advanced Manufacturing Engineering and lead the design, development, and implementation of factory automation systems. This role will involve working with robotics, machine tending, material handling, RFID systems, and automated assembly solutions to improve efficiency and production output.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead a team of 3-8 engineers specializing in robotics, controls, and software development.
• Identify, develop, and implement automation solutions to enhance efficiency and production.
• Manage automation equipment purchases and oversee vendor interactions.
• Standardize automated systems, equipment, and processes across manufacturing sites.
• Design and integrate robotics, CNC machine tending, control systems, PLCs, SCADA, Ignition, Fanuc, and Rockwell Automation solutions.
• Provide thorough documentation for automation processes, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Maintain and improve existing automation projects, ensuring optimal performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, and quality teams.
• Travel as needed for research, development, and system installations.
Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Software Engineering with a focus on Control Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in automation and control systems, preferably in manufacturing.
• Expertise in factory automation, mechanical system design, and integration.
• Strong knowledge of robotics programming, CNC machine tool tending, control system software, and PLC programming.
• Experience with SCADA, Ignition, Fanuc, Rockwell Automation, and RFID systems.
• Proficiency in software development for control systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in automation and system integration.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and change management abilities.
• Aerospace and lean manufacturing experience is a plus.
• Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and manage change effectively.
